Create and publish an event
Set up an event, choose tickets and publish it when it’s ready.
In Velvet Pro
- Open Events and choose Create event. Choose paid tickets or a free RSVP event.
- Add the event name, dates and location. Choose the admission age and entry rules.
- Tickets start with unlimited quantity. Turn off Unlimited tickets only when you want to set a total limit. Choose a price for paid tickets; free tickets have no ticketing fee.
- Add your cover image and review the event. Use Back to change an earlier step, or save a draft to finish later.
- Publish when everything is ready. The editor closes and returns to the event; a saved draft remains available from Events.
On the organizer site
- Log in. If you’re new to Velvet, you finish setting up your account on the Velvet website first, then come back to the organizer site.
- If your team is new to Velvet, choose Create your venue. To add another venue, open Venue settings and choose New venue. Enter its name and state, then choose Create venue.
- Open Events, then choose Create event.
- Choose Sell tickets, or RSVP for a free event, then add the event’s name, dates, details and venue.
- Under Tickets, choose the pencil icon next to General admission, or Add ticket. Give the ticket a name and price, and choose unlimited tickets or a total quantity, then choose Save ticket. Use 0 for a free ticket.
- Under House rules, choose who can come in: All ages, 18+ or 21+. Then choose Upload your flyer.
- Choose Create event, then Publish event, or Save as draft to finish later.
You can publish free events without connecting payouts. Connect payouts before publishing paid tickets; an owner completes the setup in Stripe.
Set the price guests will pay. Velvet’s fee, 10% of each paid order and at least $0.99 an order, comes out of your proceeds and includes online payment processing: guests pay $25.00 and you receive $22.50; guests pay $5.00 and you receive $4.01. The rate is the same for every organizer: 10% of the ticket price, at least $0.99 per order. Free tickets have no ticketing fee.
To keep the address private until guests have a ticket, turn on Reveal exact address after ticket purchase.
Owners and managers can create and publish events. To finish a draft, open Events, then Drafts, open the event and choose Edit event, then Save and Publish event.
After an event is published, Edit event opens it again, and Save updates it right away.
