Safety and Velvet Shield

Admission notices, asking for a review, reporting an event, and taking a breather.

7 steps

If you get an admission notice

  1. In the Velvet app, tap the person icon at the bottom of the screen, then Settings, then Velvet Shield. On the web, open Account settings from the menu at the top, then Velvet Shield. On a phone, open the menu, then choose Settings.
  2. Each notice shows who restricted your entry, the reason given, and until when.
  3. To ask for a review in the app, tap Appeal this notice, tell the review team what they should know in at least 20 characters, then tap Submit appeal. On the web, choose Request a review, tell us what happened, then choose Submit for review.
  4. In the app, you’ll see Review pending, then the decision.

Report an event

  1. In the Velvet app, open the event and tap Report event at the bottom of the page, or tap the three-dots icon on an event on Home and choose Report event. On the web, open the event and choose the flag icon.
  2. Pick a reason, add any details that help, then submit the report.

Take a breather

  1. In the Velvet app, open Settings, then Velvet Shield. Under Take a breather, tap Pause my service for 24 hours, then Start 24-hour pause.

A venue can restrict your entry to its own events, and Velvet can restrict your entry at one venue or at every venue. Velvet reviewers, not the venue, decide appeals.

Reports about an event go to its organizer. If the organizer is the problem, email us.

Taking a breather pauses alcohol service on your membership for 24 hours, and you can’t end it early.

If you’re in danger, call 911. For anything else that made you feel unsafe, email us.
